Doha Asian Games: History of Science

The 2006 Asian Games Opening Ceremony was held in Doha, Qatar on 1 December 2006 to mark the start of the 15th Asian Games. The ceremony took place in the multi-purpose Khalifa International Stadium, which was specifically renovated for the Asian Games.

Spinifex Group produced the massive screen graphics for the show, under the direction of David Atkins Enterprises. We worked with Spinifex’s artistic directors on the ‘History of Science’ section, producing several minutes of motion graphics highlighting some famous Arab inventors and scientists from the medieval period, and how they influenced modern western science and technology. It was a massive canvas and a lot of fun!

The Opening Ceremony was described by the media to be one of the most breath-taking and technologically spectacular multi-sports event ceremonies.
