Dubai Expo

The Al Wasl Dome has been recognised as the world’s largest interactive, immersive dome. In 2021 Expo City Dubai unveiled a slew of cultural events, supported by the massive 360 degree canvas of the iconic space.

Artists in Motion produced the closing Ceremony for the expo. Totem worked with AIM’s artistic directors to create ‘the spirit of Al Wasl’ using a (provided) animated 3D model of a woman which we then textured and lit, as well as stunning backdrops for the live content.

This involved creating rich 3D desert landscapes and using particle systems, cloth simulations and clever compositing to create seamless environments, all rendered at 8k resolution for projection on the dome.
